Quang Nam (VNA) – Entries to theancient town in Hoi An city in the central province of Quang Nam are freeof charge on December 4 to mark 19 years since the area was recognised as aUNESCO world cultural heritage.
The normal fee to enter the quarters is80,000 VND (3.44 USD) per Vietnamese and 120,000 VND (5.17 USD) per foreigner.
In 2017, the city welcomed over 3.2 millionarrivals, more than half of them foreigners.
This year, it aims to serve 3.5 milliontourists for a total revenue of more than 240 billion VND, and over 80 percentof the sum will be used to preserve the area.
For many, Hoi An is not just a collection of16th century houses for which the former port city has been recognised byUNESCO as a world heritage site.
A cuisine native to the ancient city,influenced by many different cultures from Japan, China and Portugal, is amajor part of its attraction too.
