Hanoi (VNA) - Fisheries exports in the first four months of this year fell 10percent year-on-year to 2.18 billion USD, according to the Department of FarmProduce Processing and Market Development at the Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development.
Both trafish and shrimp - Vietnam’s two main fisheries products - posted strong declines,of nearly 32 percent to 420 million USD and 12 percent to 748 million USD,respectively.
Japan, theUS, the EU, and China were the leading markets, making up almost 58 percent oftotal export value.
Exports toJapan and the US saw slight growth in the first quarter but those to the EU andChina fell sharply, by over 28 percent and 27.5 percent, respectively.
Accordingto the General Department of Vietnam Customs, fisheries exports in 2019 reachedover 8.54 billion USD, down 2.9 percent against 2018./.
