Foreign Minister hosts new Cambodian Ambassador

Hanoi (VNA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Sonhosted a reception in Hanoi on March 14 for the new Cambodian Ambassador to Vietnam, Chea Kimtha.

Son congratulated Cambodia on its great achievements over the pastyears, including the successful organisation of the fifthCommune/Sangkat Council elections in June 2022, and the successful assumptionof ASEAN and AIPA Chair in 2022.

Expressing his delight at the strong and comprehensivedevelopment of bilateral ties, the minister suggested bothsides work closely together to effectively carry out high-level agreements and importantbilateral cooperation mechanisms in the coming time, such as the 20th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Commission on Economic, Cultural,Scientific and Technological Cooperation, and the 12th conference oncooperation and development of Vietnam-Cambodia border provinces.

Minister Son asked Cambodia to continue creating favourable conditions for Cambodians of Vietnamese origin in their life, work and study, thus enabling them to actively contribute to the developmentof Cambodia and the friendship between the two countries.

For her part, Ambassador Chea Kimtha expressed honour to be the first female Cambodianambassador to Vietnam and hoped that Vietnam will share its experience to helpCambodia successfully organise the upcoming 32nd SEA Games.

She vowed to do her best tocontribute to strengthening the increasingly close and effective relationshipbetween the two countries./.
