Flood tide in HCM City forecast to hit record, again

The flood tide in Ho Chi Minh City is forecast to reach 1.68m on December 5 and 6, a record level in the past six decades.

The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting said the tidewill rise to 1.64m on December 4 and inundate many areas in the city,particularly District 12, Thu Duc, Binh Thanh, Go Vap, Cu Chi and HocMon districts.

The flood tide is expected to recede as from December 7.

The municipal Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention andControl has asked the Steering Centre of the Urban Flood ControlProgramme, the HCM City Urban Water Drainage Company, the Departmentof Transport, and the city’s Border Guard Command to ready their forcesto timely deal with the inundation.

Earlier, a flood tide in mid-October also hit 1.68m, submerging a number of roads under 0.5m of water.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
