First national ethnic minority congress slated for 2010

The first national ethnic minority congress will be held in Hanoi in mid May 2010 on the occasion of late President Ho Chi Minh’s 120th birthday.

This wasannounced by Chairman of the Committee for Ethnic Affairs Giang Seo Phuat a press briefing in Hanoi on July 21.

He told the press that the congress will be held at district,provincial and national levels with the participation ofrepresentatives of religious organisations and a number of foreignindividuals and organisations who have made contributions to thenational great unity bloc, poverty reduction and social welfare.

The national congress will be followed by a gala night of 54 ethnic minorities, he added./.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
