First green school model makes its debut in Ho Chi Minh City

A model of green school was launched in Luong The Vinh Primary School in Ho Chi Minh City on February 4, as part the city’s effort to raise students’ awareness of energy saving.
A model of green school was launched in Luong The Vinh Primary Schoolin Ho Chi Minh City on February 4, as part the city’s effort to raisestudents’ awareness of energy saving.

The model applies LEDlighting technology and uses solar-powered cell system connecting with2kWp electricity network to equipment such as electric fans, airconditioners, refrigerators and TVs.

According to Huynh KimTuoc, Director of the Energy Saving Centre under the municipalDepartment of Sciences and Technology, this is Vietnam’s first greenschool model that has been applied the environmentally-friendlytechnology.

According to the centre’s statistics, households and schools use 40 percent of the total of energy consumption in the city.

Thelocal authorities look to raise the number of green schools to 6-8 onesa year, and agencies and organisations in the city have been asked topay attention to raising awareness of energy saving, Tuoc said.

On the occasion, Luong The Vinh Primary School organised an energy saving festival with various activities.-VNA
