To fulfil requirementsof such a choosy market, the co-operative must follow a strict productionprocedure.
In the 2021 crop, theco-operative has 30 ha of the fruit grown under VietGAP standards. However, itsoutput is projected to reduce by 40 percent compared to that of last year dueto unfavourable weather.
The Ministry ofIndustry and Trade and Hung Yen authorities will organise a largest-everinternational conference to promote longan and other local agriculturalproducts on July 15.
The conference, to beheld both online and in-person, will be connected with 15 sites at home andnearly 60 others in 21 countries and territories such as the UK, Australia,India, Poland and Belgium.
Hung Yen is home toabout 4,800 ha of longan, of which more than 1,300 ha have met VietGAPstandards. The province expects to harvest around 50,000-55,000 tonnes of thefruit this year, 15-20 percent higher than last year’s output./.
