Hanoi (VNA) – Six Vietnameseengineering students have been awarded fellowships to pursue master degrees atthe US-based Arizona State University (ASU) as part of a plan to prepareskilled manpower for HCM City’s Smart City project.
Intel Products Vietnam Co., Ltd (IPV) inpartnership with ASU via the Higher EngineeringEducation Alliance Program 2.0 (HEEAP 2.0) offered six Grand ChallengesMasters Fellowships to high-performing senior graduate students fromuniversities in Hanoi, Hue and HCM City.
It is another commitment with Vietnam made byIntel, not only supporting HCM City in training high-quality human resourcesbut also contributing to the city’s vision for applying the Internet of Things(IoT) in the Smart City project, said IPV General Manager Sherry Boger.
The awarded students will begin their courses atthe ASU on August 17 and graduate one year later. They will focus on research andproject based solutions (including IoT solutions) geared towards developing asmart city for HCM City.
The students will then return to Vietnam to work with the city’sdepartments and agencies in the Smart City development for 3 years. The projectwill cover various fields, including reducing traffic congestion and accidents,coping with environmental pollution and urban flooding, enhancing manpowerquality, administrative reforms, e-government services, and urbandevelopment.-VNA
