Hanoi (VNA) – Facebook said onJanuary 31 that it will block foreign electoral ads in Thailand in the run-upto the country’s election scheduled on March 24.
The social media site said it will help protectthe election in Thailand by banning all electoral ads run by advertisers basedoutside the country.
New regulations are expected to take effect inmid-February and will apply to foreign ads that contain references to politicians,parties, getting out the vote, and/or election suppression.
Ads with political slogans and party logos willalso be blocked.
The ban will be applied not only in Thailand butalso many other countries, according to Katie Harbath, Facebook’s director ofglobal politics and government outreach.
Thailand has about 52 million monthly Facebook users.-VNA
