Dr. John Hamilton, Chief Executive Officerof the Recovery Network of Programmes in Connecticut, the US, saidthe most important thing in treating drug addiction is to help patientsand their families regain faith.
According toHamilton, addiction is a brain-related disease and the rehabilitationprocess depends on behaviour and social circumstances. He continued,highlighting the need to view addiction as a chronic and recurringdisease.
Meanwhile, Dr. Laurent Michel, Directorof the Pierre Nicoles Centre in France, shared information on thetreatment of drug addiction in Europe and France as well as at hiscentre.
For Vietnam’s part, a representative ofBac Giang’s Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs said theprovince aims to encourage the establishment of private rehabilitationcentres.
The province also intend to build anetwork of consulting, caring and assistance groups, mainly at thecommune or town level, for the treatment of drug addiction in thecommunity.-VNA
