Hanoi (VNA) - An exhibition entitled “TheDesire for Freedom” opened at Hoa Lo Prison in Hanoi on May 14 to mark the 130thbirthday of President Ho Chi Minh (May 19).
The exhibition depicts the stories of soldiers whostruggled to escape from French detention centres in the hope of returning tothe revolutionary army.
It touches upon the suffering of the Vietnamese peopleunder French colonial rule and the suppression of captives and theirdetermination to break free.
Visitors on the opening day were able to meet historicalwitnesses and family members of veterans who took part in escapes.
Valuable documents and exhibits are also on display atthe exhibition, which will run until the end of July.
A book on President Ho Chi Minh’s quotes has also beenreleased to commemorate his birthday.
Compiled by Professor and Dr Nguyen Nhu Y and hisassociates, the work comprises nearly 5,000 quotes from the late President onVietnam’s revolutionary cause and the morality and lifestyles of Party andState officials.
Meanwhile, a thematic display on President Ho opened onMay 14 in the northern province of Hai Duong.
On display are some 300 documents, items, and images introducinghis life and career as well as the province’s achievements in following his example./.
