Hanoi (VNA) –The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has confirmed that all hydropower dams underits management are absolutely in safe condition.
The affirmation wasmade following concerns of safety of dams and reservoirs of hydropower plantsafter the recent crumbling of Laos’ Xe Pian-Xe Nam Noy hydropower dam.
Currently, the EVNmanages 39 hydropower dams, which have been inspected and listed as safe.Maintenance and supervision work have been regularly implemented, while the EVNhas built flood prevention plans and submitted them to the Ministry of Industryand Trade and localities annually.
According to the EVN, theplans include specific response measures to circumstances in flood season aswell as preventative solutions.
An EVN representative saidthat all of its hydropower plants have been evaluated as safe by specialisedadvisors.
Amidst climate changeand other weather developments, the EVN has directed its units to equipthemselves with mobile generators in reservoirs, while providing online cameraimages to the Steering Committees for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control,Search and Rescue in localities and the committee at central level forsupervision, added the representatives.–VNA
