European culture head rewarded for services

The head of the Wallonie-Bruxelles delegation from Belgium to Vietnam , Franck Pezza, has been awarded the insignia ‘For the cause of Culture, Sports and Tourism’.

On addressing thepresentation ceremony in Hanoi on July 3, the Deputy Minister ofCulture, Sports and Tourism, Huynh Vinh Ai, thanked Pezza for hiscontributions to culture, sports and tourism cooperation and developmentwhich have contributed to the friendship and strategic partnershipbetween Vietnam and the Belgian region.

The deputyminister said that during his term of office, Pezza has put forwardnumerous initiatives concerning arts, including film, music, stage andstreet art festivals in Vietnam .

He said he hopesthat Pezza will continue to support Vietnam in this field afterconcluding his term of office in Vietnam .

Pezzathanked the Vietnamese Government and people for the honour and staff inVietnam ’s culture, sports and tourism sector for their kindregards.

Since he took office in September 2008, Pezzahas closely monitored culture and tourism projects during the 2007-09period and played a major role in initiating many joint cooperationprojects from 2010 to 2012.

Apart from foundinginternational documentary film festival, he also helped to organise thecomic book festival, ballroom dancing week, European literature week andEuropean language week in Vietnam .

He wasresponsible for the setting up of the European Union National Institutesfor Culture in Hanoi and served as president of Vietnam’s Francophonegroup, which comprises embassies, delegations and social organisationsthat operate in Vietnam.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
