Italisa Vietnam Co. Ltd - a wholly-owned subsidiary of a brass alloymanufacturer in China – was found directly discharging itsuntreated waste water into the Song Khe – Noi Hoang Industrial Zone.

Policefound a 15-metre plastic tube connecting the company’s electroplatingarea to the common drainage system without treatment process, which wasalready installed underground to avoid discovery.

ItalisaVietnam manufactures alloy sanitary products using bronze, silica andother chemicals. The company is reported to use 3,000 tonnes ofmaterials a year and release some 150 cu. m of waste water a day.-VNA
