Enterprises in Tien Giang adopt flexible production models to revive production

Businesses in the Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang have adopted various ways to quickly restore production and business while ensuring pandemic prevention, according to Nguyen Thanh Liem, deputy head of the provincial management board for industrial zones.

Tien Giang (VNA) – Businesses in the Mekong Delta province of TienGiang have adopted various ways to quickly restore production and business whileensuring pandemic prevention, according to Nguyen Thanh Liem, deputy head ofthe provincial management board for industrial zones.

Inline with the Government’s Resolution 128, which provides guidance on safeadaptation and flexible and effective control of the COVID-19 pandemic, 85 companies with more than 5,900 employees in the province have adopting the three-on-site model (work, eat and rest at workplaces). 

Meanwhile, 85 other firms with nearly70,000 labourers allowed workers to commute to the factories, Liem said, adding that thereare two businesses with over 700 employees which choose the combination of theabove-mentioned models.

Nissei Electric My Tho Co.Ltd allows 1,619 workers to go to the company to work andreturn daily. However, to meet the pandemic prevention requirement, it dividedemployees into small groups of between 50-100 people and arrange for them to enter and get out of the factory at different times. The break time between shifts isalso adjusted to limit contact among workers and facilitate tracing when infected casesare detected.

Meanwhile,Van Duc Tien Giang Food Export Processing Co.Ltdand CP Vietnam Livestock JSC-Tien Giang Branch have adopted “three-on-site”model to ensure safety while not disrupting the production-supply chain.Supporting policies are also offered for employees to encourage them to stay with the enterprises.

The province has asked firms to regularly conduct screening COVID-19tests for their employees in accordance with regulations, Liem said.

The provincial People's Committee has also strengthened inspection and supervisionof vaccination and testing work, as well as the handling of outbreaks arising atenterprises in industrial zones and clusters, to prevent them from spreading to thecommunity.

Tien Giang is home to four operating industrial parks with 107 projectswith a total investment capital of over 2.73 billion USD, creating jobs forover 91,000 workers. It also houses five industrial clusters with 79 projects with a total capital of over 251 million USD, generating jobs forover 17,000 workers./.
