Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly debated the draft Law on Signing, Joining and Implementing International Treaties (revised) and conducted procedures to relieve the NA Chairman and head of the National Election Council on March 30.

The morning session was chaired by NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong, during which legislators heard a report presented by Chairman of the NA’s Committee for External Relations Tran Van Hang, on acquiring feedback and adjusting terms of the draft Law on Signing, Joining and Implementing International Treaties (revised).

They then debated the bill’s contents, focusing on its name, scope as well as the principles of signing and implementation of international treaties, among others.

Later, NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong delivered a proposal on the dismissal of the Chairman of the NA and the head of the National Election Council (NEC). The proposal was subsequently discussed in groups.

In the afternoon session, Phong, on behalf of the NA Standing Committee, presented opinions collected in group discussions on the dismissal of the Chairman of the NA and the head of the NEC.

The lawmakers cast secret ballots on the dismissal of the positions and approved a resolution on the dismissal.

Phong presented a proposal on the nomination of candidates for the positions of the NA Chairman and the NEC chief.

On March 31, the NA is scheduled to elect the Chairmen of the NA and the NEC, and take procedures to relieve the President of his post.-VNA
