It is part of the fund and province’s efforts to regenerate lost partsof mangrove forest, to adapt to climate change and preserve thebiodiversity of coastal lagoons.
The WWF-fundedprojects will see 23,000 trees planted on Ru Cha site of Huong Phongcommune, Huong Tra town, some areas in Tam Giang lagoon, both banks ofHuong River, and aquaculture lakes, with the aim to increase forestacreage, safeguard anti-salinity dams and createenvironmentally-friendly lakes.
Once planting isexpanded and forest belts are established along Tam Giang lagoon andHuong River , they will be home to different kinds of larvae, a foodfor aquatic species.
Over 400 households will benefit from sustainable aquatic farming and reduced flood risk.-VNA
