The ceremony, held on the occasion of the leader’s125 th birthday (May 19, 1890), was attended by Politburo and Standingmember of the Party Central Committee Le Hong Anh, and Politburo memberand Chairman of the Committee’s Commission for Communications andEducation Dinh The Huynh.
The first prize wasgranted to 10 literary, art, and press works and the People’s PolicePublishing House which popularised writings on the topic.
Fifty-nine others received the second prize and the third andconsolation prizes were given to 87 and 81 works, individuals, andcollectives, respectively.
They were among nearly700 nominees and entries created between April 2013 and the end of March2015 to encourage the public to follow the late President’s example invarious fields.
Winning writers include ProfessorsVu Khieu, Ha Minh Duc, and Tran Van Binh, and ethnic minority membersfrom the Tay, Nung, Cham, Ede, and Chau Ro groups. Foreigners likeChilean painter Luis Andre Motess Rajas and expatriates in the UK,Australia, and Sri Lanka were also among the awardees.
The award was set up as part of the implementation of the Party’s 11th Congress Resolution and Political Bureau Direction 03-CT/TW on thecontinued acceleration of the studying and following of President Ho ChiMinh’s moral example.
In May 2013, 136 works, individuals, and collectives from nearly 300 nominees and entries were also honoured with the award.-VNA
