Earthquakes hit Lai Chau province

Two earthquakes measuring 3.8 and 3.6 on the Richter scale struck the northern mountainous province of Lai Chau on April 25-26, respectively.

According to Le Huy Minh, Director ofthe Centre for Earthquake Information and Tsunami Forecasts under theInstitute of Geophysics , the epicentre of the 3.6-magnitudeearthquake on April 26 was 14 km from Lai Chau town at a depth of 4 km.

The earthquake took place in several seconds, causing no damage for the province, Minh said./.
