Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly deputies examined draft working reports of State and Government leaders for the 2011-2016 tenure, during a plenary session broadcast live nationwide on March 29.

Under the chair of NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, 26 lawmakers presented their own opinions and suggestions.

On the draft working report of the President, opinions focused on achievements and shortcomings, the causes and lessons for the next tenure.

Discussing the draft working reports of the government and the Prime Minister; lawmakers highlighted policymaking and enforcement, the government’s capability to correctly forecast and plan, the reshuffle of the State administrative apparatus, administrative and business climate reform, consolidation of the defence forces, e-government development, and environmental protection in response to climate change and disasters, among others.

As regards the draft working report of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court, they offered feedback on the settlement of administrative violations and bailiff requests, capacity improvement of officials and cadres at People’s Courts at all levels – particularly the contingent of judges amid nationwide judicial reform, and solutions to delayed complaints.

After listening to the draft working report by the Chief Justice of the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court, legislators debated the outcomes of exercising prosecution rights over criminal and corruption cases, the quality of arguments at courts, obstacles to managing judicial activities, and the settlement of complaints.

Recommendations to improve the efficiency of the people’s procuracy sector were also provided.

As scheduled on March 30, the NA is to discuss the draft revised Law on Signing, Joining and Implementing International Treaties, and listen to a report asking for removing the NA Chairman, who is also Chairman of the National Election Council from office.

In the afternoon, the legislative body will adopt a resolution on dismissing the NA Chairman and discuss in groups a list of nominees for the positions.-VNA
