Tokyo (VNA) – Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe announced on March 1that his country and the United States will maintain close cooperation to solveissues related to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), includingthe past abduction of Japanese nationals.
Japan completely supports US PresidentDonald Trump’s decision not to make concessions easily and to continueconstructive talks to urge the DPRK to take concrete steps to realisedenuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula, Abe told reporters after talking withTrump over the phone on the outcome of the two-day summit in Hanoi.
Meanwhile, Japanese Foreign Minister TaroKono said that the second DPRK-USA summit ending without a deal ondenuclearisation is regretful.
He affirmed Tokyo’s support for Trump’sdecisions, calling on the international community to unite and continue effortsto settle DPRK-related issues.
The second DPRK-USAsummit took place in Hanoi on February 27-28.-VNA
