Hanoi (VNA) – The upcoming DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam is a good chance for Vietnam to promote its foreign policy and show its wish to join hands in building peace in the region and the world, said Le Thi Thu Hang, the Foreign Ministry's Spokeswoman.

Speaking to the media on February 23, Hang said that the event is also an opportunity to introduce the nation, people and development achievements in all fields of Vietnam, and promote the images of a beautiful country, friendly and hospitable people with abundant potential for cooperation and investment as well as a safe destination for tourists.

“I believe that during their stay in Hanoi, international reporters will recognise the hospitality of local people. The event is expected to open up many chances for Vietnam to step up international integration,” said the spokeswoman.

Regarding preparations for hosting more than 3,000 foreign reporters covering the summit, Hang said that relevant agencies have worked very hard to set up the international media centre in a short time.

The 30,000 sq.m centre has separate working areas for each media agency with facilities and modern infrastructure to serve their operations, she said, adding that the centre meets international standards withcapacity of hosting about 3,000 reporters at the same time.

Hang hoped that Hanoi will design activities for the reporters aiming to introduce the potential in development cooperation of the city in particular and Vietnam in general, while creating optimal conditions for the reporters to operate.

“We welcome Hanoi's initiative to run hop-on-hop-off buses from the media centre to major tourist sites in the city, so that foreign reporters can go on sightseeing tours and capture the most beautiful images of Hanoi,” she said.

A photo exhibition will also be held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism at the internationalmedia centre to popularise the land, people and heritages of Vietnam, Hang added.-VNA
