– The upcoming DPRK-USA Hanoi Summit Vietnam will be anunprecedented event held in Vietnam, demonstrating the country’s willingness tocontribute to dialogue towards maintaining peace, security and stability on theKorean Peninsula as well as in the region and the world.

The summit will take place in theVietnamese capital from February 27-28, following the first held in Singaporelast June during which the two countries committed to establishing arelationship for peace and prosperity as an effort to build long term peace onthe Korean Peninsula.

With its experience in holdinginternational events such as the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in the centralcity of Da Nang in 2017 and the World Economic Forum on ASEAN in Hanoi in 2018,Vietnam’s hosting of the second DPRK-USA Summit affirms its increasing positionas well as its responsible contribution to international issues.

It will also confirm the country’sdetermination to implement a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance,peace, cooperation and development; diversification and multilateralisation ofinternational relations; active international integration; and being a friend,trusted partner and responsible member of the international community.

For Hanoi, the summit takes place atthe time when the city is celebrating the 20th anniversary of itsrecognition as the City for Peace by UNESCO.

To make good preparations for the event,Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has directed ministries, sectors and Hanoi to workwith relevant parties to organise the summit successfully to help people fromparticipating countries feel Vietnam’s friendliness and hospitality, and makeVietnamese people understand the event’s significance as well as the country’s internationalrole and prestige.-VNA
