Hanoi (VNA) - TheDemocratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) has suggested holding jointactivities in the Republic of Korea (RoK) to celebrate the first inter-Korean summitin 2000.
The suggestion was made during thehigh-level talks at the border truce village of Panmunjom to discussinter-Korean affairs on June 1.
The meeting was chaired by RoKUnification Minister Cho Myoung-gyon and Ri Son-gwon, Chairman of the DPRK's Committeefor the Peaceful Reunification of the Country.
The two sides discussed ways tofollow up on the agreement reached during the first summit between RoKPresident Moon Jae-in and DPRK leader Kim Jong Un on April 27.
The RoK called for the launchingof a joint liaison office in the DPRK border city of Kaesong, which was agreedby the DPRK side.
The first inter-Korean summit washeld in June 2000 in Pyongyang. After the summit, the June 15 Joint Declarationwas announced by then RoK President Kim Dae-jung and then DPRK leader Kim JongIl.-VNA
