Among them, 80 received bicycles while 110 others were awarded withscholarships “Back to School” worth 3 million VND (140.5 USD) each andten with scholarships worth 5 million VND (234 USD) each.
“Real Life Journey” was co-launched by the National Fund forVietnamese Children and AIA Vietnam Life Insurance Co., Ltd in early2014 in an effort to raise fund and call on more support from societyfor disadvantaged children.
The programme has gonethroughout 22 cities and provinces across the country, including Hanoi,Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Dak Lak and Can Tho, to deliver 770bicycles to underprivileged students with a total fund of 1.3 billionUSD (60,900 USD).
According to the Ministry ofLabour, Invalids and Social Affairs, some 200,000 Vietnamese childrendropped out school every year mainly because they had to walk to schoolwhile the schools were far from their homes.-VNA
