Hanoi (VNA) - Deputy Spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry Pham Thu Hang said the operation ofdirect flights from Vietnam to the US bears great significance to promoting the multifacetedcooperation between the two nations, especially in economy, trade, tourism,education, and people-to-people exchange.

She made the comment at the ministry’s regular pressconference held virtually on November 4 with regard to reports that the Vietnam Airlines is to conduct the first regularcommercial flight to the US, slated for late November, after 20 years of preparation.

"This preparation has been made during a long time and with close cooperation between Vietnamese and US authorities,” she said.

The diplomat informed that recently, the Vietnam Airlines has received approval from US Transportation Security Administration (TSA) for its aviation transport safety plan, paving the way for the airline to be licensed to carry out regular flights between the two countries.

According to her, Vietnamese competent agencies arecoordinating to complete final procedures for the carrier to realise its flight plan. Theywill continue assisting other airlines that wish to and are capable of operatingdirect flights to the US./.
