Dien Bien (VNA) – A ceremony was held at Tong Khao cemetery in thenorthern mountainous province of Dien Bien to rebury remains of 12 volunteerVietnamese soldiers and experts who died for international missions in sixnorthern Lao provinces.
Eleven sets of remains were found in twomass graves in Oudomxay province’s Nga district, while the remaining wasuncovered in Ngoi district of Luang Prabang province.
They were found by the Military Zone 2’ssearching team during the 2018-2019 dry season. In the period, the team hasdiscovered and brought home remains of 42 volunteer Vietnamese soldiers andexperts who laid down their lives in six northern Lao provinces of Oudomxay,Phongsaly, Sainyabuli, Luang Prabang, Luang Namtha and Bokeo.
Established in 1994, the team has so farfound and repatriated over 1,730 sets of remains of Vietnamese martyrs.-VNA
