Bratislava (VNA) – Deputy PrimeMinister Vuong Dinh Hue’s trip to Slovakia from September 20-21 helped developand reinforce friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Slovakia.
During his two-day visit, Hue met with SlovakianPrime Minister Robert Fico on September 21, during which he affirmed Vietnamattaches importance to relations with traditional friends, including Slovakia.
He proposed Slovakia promote ties between theEuropean Union (EU) and Vietnam.
PM Fico expressed his admiration for theVietnamese people’s achievements in the cause of national building anddevelopment.
The two countries’ relations will developsustainably based on the traditional friendly ties and shared common values, hesaid, adding that Slovakia supports the development of Vietnam-EU ties,including the signing and ratification of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.
The PM suggested increasing people-to-peopleexchanges to help young generations understand the long-standing relationsbetween the two countries.
He also hailed the contributions of theVietnamese community in Slovakia and affirmed Slovakia will create the bestconditions for Vietnamese expatriates to integrate into the host society andpreserve their national identity.
The same day, Hue attended a workshop onpromoting Vietnam-Slovakia investment with more than 100 businesses in Slovakiaand Central and Eastern Europe represented.
He highlighted the country’s socio-economicaccomplishments, development plans and incentives to encourage investment inVietnam.
There is a plenty of room and opportunity forSlovakian firms to make use of business and investment opportunities in Vietnamand vice versa, he said.
He called on Slovakian enterprises to invest inVietnam in the fields of their strengths such as automobile and spare partsmanufacturing, mechanics, industrial equipment, electronics, and infrastructuredevelopment.
The official introduced Vietnam’s processed farmproduce, aquatic products, electronics, and high-quality consumer products,which are available for Slovakia’s 5.5 million customers.
He noted that there are ample opportunities forSlovakia’s industrial products, mechanics, energy and food to access Vietnam, andthen on to ASEAN and Asia-Pacific markets.
While meeting with some leading businesses inSlovakia on the sidelines of the workshop, Deputy PM Hue asked the Slovakiangroups to invest in Vietnam.
He also exchanged information on potentialinvestment projects in Vietnam such as hi-tech industry, electronics, renewableenergy, hi-tech agriculture, and information technology.
At a meeting with representatives of the Vietnamesecommunity in the Central and Eastern European region, including Slovakia, theRepublic of Czech, Poland, and Hungary, Hue said he hoped the overseasVietnamese will continue serving as a bridge to connect the two nations.-VNA
