Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc held a reception for a US business delegation led by US Ambassador to Singapore Kirk Wagar in Hanoi on September 9.

Highlighting the robust growth of Vietnam – US trade, the Deputy PM said the effective implementation of US-invested projects has contributed to Vietnam’s overall socio-economic development.

The US is currently the seventh biggest foreign investor in Vietnam with 700 projects valued at approximately 11 billion USD.

The future Trans- Pacific Partnership, to which both Vietnam and the US are members, is expected to open up even greater trade opportunities between the two nations, Phuc said.

Thanking his host, Ambassador Wagar pointed out that the purpose of his delegation visit is to gain insight of the Vietnamese market and promote the operation of US firms in Vietnam.

Most US enterprises in Singapore consider Vietnam as the first choice in their plans to expand investment in the region, Wagar said, adding that the country’s commitment to improve business climate will bring more US investment.-VNA
