Deputy PM suggests ways to boost Vietnam-China partnership

Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai has proposed to Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao a number of measures to foster the Vietnam-China partnership in the coming time.
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has proposed to Chinese VicePresident Li Yuanchao a number of measures to foster the Vietnam-Chinapartnership in the coming time.

He held that togetherwith maintaining high-level meetings, both sides should effectivelyimplement agreements and shared perceptions while boosting win-wincooperation in all fields, especially economy, trade and investment.

Both countries should also promote ties among localities, especiallythose along the common border, while increasing people-to-peopleexchanges, suggested the Deputy PM, who is in China ’s Yunnanprovince from June 11-13 for the opening of the third China-South AsiaExpo and 23 rd Kunming Fair.

He stated that Vietnampursues a foreign policy of peace, independence, self-control,multilateralisation and diversification and always values thecomprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China .

On the East Sea issue, Deputy PM Hai stressed that both sidesshould abide by the agreements and common perceptions of senior leadersof the two Parties and States regarding the efficient control ofdisagreement at sea, not taking any actions that further complicate andexpand dispute, working together for the maintenance of peace andstability in the East Sea .

Vietnam and Chinashould strictly and fully implement their agreement on basic principlesguiding the settlement of sea-related issues, as well as the Declarationon the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), he said.

Both sides should also work with ASEAN countries to complete the Codeof Conduct in the East Sea at an early date, he emphasised, addingthat the two countries should properly resolve disputes throughpeaceful measures in conformity with international law.

Onhis part, Li Yuanchao spoke highly of progress in bilateral relationsover the past years, affirming that the Party and Government of Chinaalways attach much importance to the neighbourly friendship andcomprehensive cooperation with Vietnam .

He held thatthe two countries should actively enhance their comprehensive strategiccooperative partnership in a healthy manner, while beefing up bilateralcollaboration practically for mutual benefit, and settling disputesproperly for the interest of both peoples.

During ameeting with Yunnan Governor Chen Hao, Deputy PM Hai congratulatedYunnan on socio-economic achievements of the locality over the pastyears.

He expressed delight at the sound affiliationbetween Vietnam ’s localities and Yunnan , pledging that theVietnamese Government is keen on boosting the cooperation betweenministries and localities with the province.

He alsosuggested that both sides should improve the efficiency of friendshipexchanges and cooperation mechanism, contributing to bolstering theVietnam-China ties.-VNA
