On behalf of the VietnameseGovernment, Deputy PM Phuc highly valued Mainichi Newspapers’coordination with Vietnamese competent agencies to host the 16 th WorldPolice Music Festival in Hanoi , which, he said, is a meaningfulcultural event that helps to consolidate peace in the world.

Phuc said the effective cooperation between Vietnam and Japanover the past time serves as a foundation for the two strategic partnersto further boost their relations.

The Deputy PMaffirmed that the incident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant causedby the recent earthquake and tsunami will not affect Vietnam ’spolicy to develop nuclear power for peaceful purposes.

Vietnam always attaches importance to Japan ’s officialdevelopment assistance (ODA), Phuc said, adding that about 1,600Japanese businesses are operating successfully in Vietnam .

Vietnam encourages foreign enterprises, including Japan , to invest in the country, he stressed.


Established in 1872, Mainichi is the oldest newspaper in Japan . Itis now a mass media group ranking third in Japan in terms ofpublication and staff.
