Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received advisor of the Harvard’s Vietnam Programme, Professor Thomas Vallely, in Hanoi on March 31, expressing his hope that Vallely will continue helping with consolidating Vietnam-US cooperation, especially in education.

He hailed the contributions of Prof. Vallely as well as the staff ofthe Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme (VELP), which is acollaborative initiative of the Vietnamese Government, the UnitedNations Development Programme and the Vietnam Programme at the HarvardKennedy School .

The VELP has created a forumfor Vietnamese senior policymakers as well as business leaders todialogue based on a foundation of practical research on policychallenges that Vietnam and the world are facing, he said.

Prof. Vallely spoke highly of Vietnam’s efforts to preservecultural and education values and the country’s renovation insocio-economic development over the past years.

Heaffirmed that he will try his best to enhance the quality of Vietnameseteaching at US universities, contributing to boosting educationpartnerships between the two countries.

Launched in1988, the Vietnam Programme aims to study Vietnam’s socio-economicdevelopment using a multifaceted approach that combines research,teaching and policy analysis.-VNA
