At the event, Phucinformed participants of the challenges confronting Vietnam andexplained the present priorities of its socio-economic developmentpolicy.
Delegates talked openly about how Vietnam ispositioned in the current regional and global context as they consideredthe trend of worldwide economic connectivity.
They spokeabout the tasks Vietnam must undertake to restructure its economy anddebated how the country can learn from the development experiences ofthe US and other major economies.
They also suggested effective policies for Vietnam to adopt.
The debate also revolved around global trade, domestic reforms, theneed for a new growth model, institution overhaul, economicprogression and social goals.
Initiated in 2008, VELP – ahigh-level policymaking exchange forum – was co-hosted by the VietnameseForeign Ministry, the United Nations Development Programme and HarvardUniversity this year .
