Hanoi (VNA) – Deputies discussed preparation for the first sitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) during the 49th session of the 13th NA Standing Committee, which took place in Hanoi on June 13-15.

NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan urged the NA Office to coordinate with relevant agencies to complete the working agenda and ensure the event is successful.

She asked the NA Standing Committee to review and give instructions on polling regulations at the first session of the 14th legislature.

The top legislator also requested relevant agencies to collect opinions to complete the draft resolutions on the organisation and operation of the board of lay judges and the NA Chair; the costumes and identification cards of judges and lay judges; the salary and allowances for court staff; the number of supplementary judges at high, middle, and primary levels; and the benefits for procurators at the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

Deputies touched upon the adjustment of law-making programmes and ordinances in 2016; the building of NA legal documents and ordinances in 2017, the completion of reports on the State budget balance in 2014, and the enforcement of law on thrift practices and wastefulness in 2015.

The NA Standing Committee agreed with the Government’s proposal on the allocation of over 5.4 trillion VND (243 million USD), which remains from the State budget in 2015.

The committee proposed the Government complete a report to submit to the first session of the 14th NA using 10 trillion VND (450 million USD) from the sale of State-owned enterprises’ shares to cope with drought and saltwater intrusion.-VNA
