Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly deputies have expressed hope that the new government will build on the past successes and issue timely policies for socio-economic development.

They made the statement on the sidelines of the NA’s 11 th session in Hanoi on April 9 which adopted the appointment of three Deputy Prime Ministers and 18 ministers and Cabinet members.

Deputy Bui Thi An representing Hanoi’s constituents said during the past tenure, several ministries and sectors made breakthroughs, especially the Transport Ministry.

Apart from a ramp-up in infrastructure, the ministry attached importance to personnel work by holding open examinations to choose the best candidates for managerial positions its departments and agencies, she said.

Seperately, she raised concern over the smuggling and trading of counterfeit and bad-quality goods, poisonous and banned substances, and hoped that the government will annually assess each sector’s performance in a transparent manner.

Lawmaker Tran Ngoc Vinh from the northern port city of Hai Phong hoped that the new PM and other government members will be more active in driving the economy forward.

The government needs to devise solutions to achieve the goals set in the last tenure while continuing to make forecasts and issue specific measures, he said.-VNA
