Hanoi (VNA) – Delegates spoke highly of a report by the 11 th Party Central Committee on documents to be submitted to the 12 th National Party Congress, which was delivered by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the opening ceremony of the congress on January 21.
They said on the sidelines of the Congress, that the report mentioned valuable lessons and experiences learned from the five-year implementation of the Resolution of the 11 th National Party Congress and 30 years of the Doi Moi (Renewal) process.
According to Phan Van Su from the southern province of Tay Ninh, the report gave a correct and objective assessment of the country’s real situation to put forth missions for the next five years. He expressed his belief that policies to be set out by the 12 th Congress will be implemented effectively.
The increase of resources for security and defence has been paid special attention, showing the Party’s viewpoint of resolutely safeguarding the nation’s territorial security and safety, especially sea and island sovereignty, he stated, adding that this thought has gained popularity and won the concurrence of all Party members.
On the eve of the important event, many delegates showed their expectation that the 12 th Congress will begin the second major reform of the Party. Nguyen Thi Thanh from the northern province of Ninh Binh said the next development period will be very important for Vietnam to take off.
As a delegate from the people’s armed forces, Cat Van Tho from the northern province of Bac Ninh highlighted the Party’s view of resolutely and persistently struggling to defeat hostile forces’ peace evolution and rioting plots; determinedly safeguarding independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity; protecting the Party, State, people and socialist regime; and maintaining political stability for economic development.
He went on to say that the people’s army and people’s police need to be gradually modernised.
Meanwhile, delegate Nguyen Viet Tuan from the northern province of Bac Giang commented that the report represents the brainpower of the entire Party, people and army. It mentions all achievements and shortcomings of the national renewal process, as well as sets out objectives for the next five years and beyond.
As President of the People’s Council of Yen Dung district, Tuan paid attention to the Party’s policies to boost agricultural and rural development, and improve the material and spiritual lives of the people.
Bui Van Hai, also from Bac Giang, said that the report is significant for Vietnam to enter its next development phase - the period of more comprehensive and profound renovation when the country integrates deeper into the world economy.-VNA
