Hanoi (VNA) –Defence Minister General Ngo XuanLich is leading a high-level military delegation on a trip to China to takepart in the 8th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, which runs from October 24 to 26.

The Minister is scheduled to deliver a speech at the forum’sfirst plenary meeting on international security governance.

The participation of the high-level delegation in the forumreflects Vietnam’s proactive and responsible role in international and regionalissues, while presenting Vietnam’s stance on security and development mattersof regional and international concern.

After the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, the delegation will payan official visit to China from October 26 to 28 at the invitation of ChineseDefence Minister Senior Lieutenant General Wei Fenghe.

As part of the visit, Minister Lich will hold talks with hisChinese counterpart, meet leaders of the Central Military Commission, and paycourtesy calls to a number of Party and Government senior officials.  

The visit aims at enhancing the friendship betweenVietnamese and Chinese parties, governments, and armies. It will help boostmutual understanding and trust between high-ranking officials of the two armiesand accelerate the implementation of the two defence ministries’ joint vision statementon defence cooperation to 2025.

Initiated by the China Association of Military Science in2006, the Beijing Xiangshan Forum, whose original name was Xiangshan Forum, hasdeveloped into a high-level security and defence forum in Asia-Pacific. Thisyear, it is themed “Building a New Type of Security Partnership of Equality,Mutual Trust and Win-Win Cooperation”.-VNA
