A working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture andRural Development led by Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien visited the group’s ASFvaccine research centre and laboratory on October 2.
Dabaco Chairman Nguyen Nhu So said that the vaccine is theoutcome of transfer of biological products from the US Department ofAgriculture’s research centre for exotic species diseases, the Nong nghiep VietNam (Vietnam Agriculture) newspaper reported.
The project, once successful, will be a breakthrough inproducing vaccines, thus increasing the Vietnamese husbandry industry’sposition and prestige, as there are no countries in the world succeeding inproducing a vaccine against ASF.
Vietnam is targeting more than 90 percent of its communes and wards being freeof African swine fever by 2022 and all by 2025, according to a national plan onAfrican swine fever prevention for the 2020-2025 period.
The plan also targets 500 safe pig breeding facilities and50 safe livestock chains, meeting domestic demand and for export./.
