The President made the statement on December 28 while attending the seminar, themed “25 years of Da Nang: Achievements and Prospects”, that marks25 years since Da Nang became a centrally-run city (January, 1997-2022).
In the past 25 years, the city’s gross domestic product (GDP)has increased by 27 times, its total budget revenue by 18 times, and its percapita income by 7 times.
It has ranked first in the country in terms of theProvincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) seven times, and topped the PublicAdministration Reform (PAR) index for five consecutive years and the Informationand Communications Technology (ICT) Index for12 consecutive years.
Da Nang has the ability and needs to become an international-standardcity, an international trade centre, and an attractive destination forinvestors and tourists. It must be a symbol and pride of Vietnam's rising toovercome difficulties and obstacles to obtain success, Phuc stressed.
President Nguyen Xuan Phuc suggested Da Nang focus on developinghuman capital as the key to the city’s success lies in its ability to awakenhuman potential, especially those who are fluent in foreign languages, good attechnology, and have high skills.
It is necessary to build Da Nang into an urban area withoutpoor people, as well as poor and near-poor households, he added.
