Da Nang workers join in blood donation programme

About 1,000 trade union members and labourers in the central city of Da Nang took part in a blood donation programme on March 1, an activity to help ease blood shortage for health care after the Lunar New Year holiday.

Da Nang (VNA) – About1,000 trade union members and labourers in the central city of Da Nang tookpart in a blood donation programme on March 1, an activity to help ease bloodshortage for health care after the Lunar New Year holiday.

President of the Da NangConfederation of Labour Nguyen Duy Minh said this was an annual activity of theconfederation. Particularly, amid complex developments of the COVID-19outbreak, it is even more important to ensure blood reserves for first aid andmedical treatment at hospitals.

To ensure health safety for donors,organisers provided hand sanitiser and face masks for them and checked theirbody temperature.

The labour confederation alsocalled on sponsors to support participants with 1,000 fabric face masks and1,000 water bottles.

As many as 431 blood units werecollected at the event./.
