The event, themed “GlobalTargets - Local Benefits: Setting the Sustainable Development Agenda forthe Seas of East Asia beyond 2015,” is expected to welcome 800international and domestic delegates, including investors, and regionalpartners, the Sai Gon Giai Phong newspaper reported.
Participants will review coastal and sea marine zone management in theregion, and discuss successful research in coastal management and theEast Asian marine sustainable development strategy.
The congresswill include senior officials' meetings, East Asian Seas PartnershipCouncil Meeting, international workshops, forums, dialogues withscientists and youth, exhibitions and field trips.
Since itslaunch in 2003, the triennial East Asian Seas Congress has been heldalternately in the Partnerships in Environmental Management for the Seasof East Asia (PEMSEA) member countries, namely Malaysia (2003),China (2006), the Philippines (2009) and the Republic of Korea (2012).-VNA
