Ha Tinh (VNA) – Deputy Prime MinisterVuong Dinh Hue has asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development tocreate a set of criteria for building model rural residential areas, gardensand farm households to submit to the Government as soon as possible.
He made the request at a conference in thecentral coastal province of Ha Tinh on April 15 focusing on model ruralresidential areas, gardens and farm households with the participation ofrepresentatives from 63 cities and provinces across the country.
According to the Deputy PM, such models will serveas an important foundation to build model rural areas at the communal anddistrict levels.
He praised localities including Ha Tinh, QuangNinh, Thanh Hoa, Quang Nam and Thai Nguyen for their initial achievements inthe direction, with new rural models meeting local residents’ aspiration.
Huehighlighted the role of authorities in devising scheme to build modelresidential areas and gardens that suit the conditions of each locality, addingthat regular review is needed to learn from experience during the process.
The national target programme on buildingnew-style rural areas, initiated by the Vietnamese Government in 2010, sets 19criteria on socio-economic development, politics, and defence, aiming to boostrural regions of Vietnam.
The list of criteriaincludes development of infrastructure, improvement of production capacity,environmental protection, and promotion of culturalvalues.
To date, as many as 3,289 communes nationwidehave been recognised as rural areas, making up around 36.8 percent of the totalcommunes.
Particularly, localities such as Ha Tinh, QuangNinh, Quang Nam, Thai Nguyen, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Lao Cai, and QuangNgai have promulgated criteria for model rural residential areas, while Ha Tinhand Quang Ninh provinces have created criteria on building model gardens.-VNA
