Creative models boost rural development in Binh Duong

The emulation movement of “Good farmer in production and business” has been promoted among farmers in Tan Uyen district, the southern province of Binh Duong. Thanks to this movement, the life of farmers in the province has improved considerably.

NgoPhuong Thanh, Chairman of Tan Uyen district’s Farmers Association, wasquoted by the Binh Duong online as saying that the district has so farhad as many as 7,607 farming households with the title of “Good farmerin production and business” at all levels.

The association has also coordinated with the district’s Plant Protection Station, Agriculture
ExtentionStation, Veterinary Station and Mam Xanh fertiliser company to organise258 training courses on animal husbandry and cultivation techniques forits members.

Thanks to their flexibility and creativeness plusefforts in sci-tech application, farmers have so far created manyeffective models, contributing to comprehensively promoting the localagricultural sector.

The district-based clubs on animalhusbandry and farming have continued attracting a large crowd ofmembers. The whole district is now home to 13 cooperative groups andcollective economic models. Noticeably, there are two farms Phuong Uyenand Doan Minh Chien granted the VietGAP certificates.

Le ThiChuyen, a winner of the title in Hoi Nghia commune, said that shepreviously failed to develop a model of growing spinach. After attendingtraining courses on growing safe vegetables, she has changed to thismodel, helping her family secure a more stable life.

On average, she secures a monthly profit of 1 million VND (45 USD) from her safe vegetables cultivated on more than 3,000 sq.m.

Anothertitle winner, Bui Van Minh in Uyen Hung township, said: “Currently, Iharvest nearly 100kg of mushroom a day with the average price of around20,000 VND/kg. My annual profit is between 200-300 million VND.”

Accordingto Thanh, the model of growing grapefruit in association with banana isthe province’s newest model with high economic efficiency. Many animalhusbandry and crop cultivation models in the district have also broughtabout high economic efficiency, helping members of the district’sFarmers Association get out of poverty. This has contributed to thelocal socio-economic development.

Apart from improving the livesof their families, the district’s outstanding farmers have well realisedtheir duties and responsibilities to the State and the community. Theyhave always been in the vanguard of movements on rural trafficconstruction, social welfare and new rural construction.

Membersof the district’s Farmers Association last year took park in upgradingand dredging canals with a total expense of more than 2.5 billion VND.They also helped one other in hunger eradication and poverty reduction.Especially, they contributed money and working days to upgrading andbuilding houses for poor households.VNA
