The Malaysian Health Ministry's Director-General Noor HishamAbdullah said in a press statement that the sporadic and symptomlesscases were found in the Klang Valley area, which encompasses the capital cityof Kuala Lumpur and part of the adjacent Selangor state.
Sporadic cases refer to cases which are not traced toexisting pandemic clusters, he said, warning that those without symptoms are stillinfectious.
On June 21, the nation reported another 4,611 new COVID-19infections, bringing the national total to 701,019, according to the healthministry. An additional 69 more deaths were logged, bringing the death toll to 4,477.
Malaysia also recorded the highest number of vaccine shotsin a day, at 235,623, since the National Immunization Programme was launched onFebruary 24.
Meanwhile, in Cambodia, the 18 deaths on June 22 were the nation’s second highestnumber recorded in a day to date.
On the same day, the Cambodian Ministry of Health confirmedanother 678 COVID-19 cases, including 58 imported and 620 community infections. The ministry also reported 763 recoveries.
As of June 22, Cambodia had recorded a total of 44,124 COVID-19cases with 38,766 recoveries and 459 fatalities./.
