COVID-19: Malaysia reports highest daily death toll

Malaysia reported 207 new COVID-19-related deaths on July 26, the highest number since the pandemic broke out in the country.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia reported 207 newCOVID-19-related deaths on July 26, the highest number since the pandemic brokeout in the country.

In the past 24 hours, Malaysia recorded 14,516 newinfections, down more than 2,500 cases compared to the previous day, raisingthe national count to nearly 1.03 million, including 8,201 deaths.

Also on July 26, for the first time, the number of COVID-19patients need intensive care in the Southeast Asian country exceeded 1,000,including 524 requiring oxygen support.

Malaysia is suffering the third wave of COVID-19 whichstarted from September 2020. Since April this year, the number of new casesrose from four digits to five digits. The daily count in the recent 14consecutive days surpassed 10,000, while the number of deaths also increasedfrom two digits to three digits./.
