Phnom Penh (VNA) – The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MoEYS) of Cambodia hasannounced that the re-opening of schools has been postponed until furthernotice as preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
According to a directive issued by the ministry on April 17, theextension of school suspensions covers all educational institutions at alllevels and forms, both public and private.
The ministry urged all educational institutions to promote and support distancelearning and e-learning.
Educational institutions have beenordered to close since March 16 to contain the spread of COVID-19.
As of April 18, the total number of COVID-19 infections in Cambodia hasremained at 122 for the sixth day in a row.
In an effort to prevent the disease, the Phnom Penh authority on April 17 saidit was ready to quarantine more than 15,000 textile workers who were preparingto return to the capital after the traditional New Year of the Khmer./.
