Hanoi (VNA) – A conference on Vietnam – China trade cooperation was organisedin Hanoi on April 25 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) andChina Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) in Zhejiang.
The eventwas designed to provide opportunities for enterprise of Vietnam and China’sZhejiang province to meet and look for cooperation possibilities.
At thefunction, Do Kim Lang, deputy head of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency(Vietrade), stressed Vietnam is the biggest partner of China in ASEAN, addingthat Vietnam has made great efforts to stabilise the currency exchange rate andimprove the business climate for both domestic and foreign investors.
Huang XiaoHang, deputy head of the CCPIT Zhejiang, said more than 30 firms from hisprovince want to meet their Vietnamese peers, adding that his agency expects tohelp both sides step up partnerships in garment-textile, leather and footwear.
VCCI GeneralSecretary Pham Thi Thu Hang noted that China had been the biggest trade partnerof Vietnam and the country’s top export market for 11 consecutive years.
Hang quotedthe CCPIT’s assessment that Zhejiang boasts the highest number of firmsinvesting in Vietnam and doing business with Vietnamese firms, compared toother Chinese provinces.
She saidshe expects the conference will contribute to boosting connection betweenVietnamese and Chinese businesses.
According tothe General Department of Vietnam Customs, trade between Vietnam and China amountedto 71.9 billion USD last year, up 7.9 percent year on year.
By the endof March 2017, China was ranked 8th among foreign investors inVietnam with 1,615 projects worth 11.1 billion USD.-VNA
