Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Farmers Association held a conference on January 15 in Hanoi to review the implementation of the project on reforming and enhancing the effectiveness of the Supporting Fund for Farmers from 2011 to 2015.
Over the past five years, the Fund has provided loans for nearly 400,000 households across the nation, worth a total of 5.2 trillion VND (232.14 million USD), contributing to raising their income by 10 percent.
It has also helped create jobs for dozens of thousands of rural labourers, contributed to the restructuring of rural economic development, and pioneered the new style of rural area building.
The Association welcomes 144,347 new members each year.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the Association Lai Xuan Mon said in the 2016-2020 period, the Fund will apply information and technology to enhance its management.
It will also better facilitate access to loans for farmers, while focusing on training and building managerial staff’s work capacity.
Communication work will be fostered to develop the Fund, and raise the awareness of the Fund operation across farmers.
On the occasion, 24 units and localities were honoured for their outstanding contribution to the project implementation.-VNA
