Speaking at the event, Pham HongSon, head of G3VN group – a CBO for the gay community, said it has changeditself to a social enterprise by building Galant general clinic specialising indiagnosing HIV infection, treatment of sexually-transmitted diseases, amongothers. It also commits to reserving 51 percent of its profits for supportingthe gay community.
Director of the Centre forPromotion of Quality of Life (LIFE) Nguyen Nguyen Nhu Trang said six out of 31CBOs in the south have turned into social businesses.
In particular, three CBOs, namely“Aloboy”, “Hoa co may” and “Da khoc” have been cooperating together to create aclean food distribution channel called AloFood, which sets aside 52 percent ofits profits to serve the community.
Trang said CBOs also play animportant role in HIV/AIDS prevention and control by working closely with victimsor those at high risk of infection.
