Singapore (VNA) – A delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV),led by Chairman of the CPV CentralCommittee’s Commission for External Relations Hoang Binh Quan, is on an official visit to Singpore fromJuly 23-27 at the invitationof Singaporean Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan.
Quan met with HengSwee Keat, Singaporean DeputyPrime Minister, Minister for Finance and First Assistant Secretary-General of the People’sAction Party; held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan;held a working session with People’s Association; and visited the Institute ofSoutheast Asian Studies and the International Institute for Strategic Studies.
In the meetingswith Heng and Vivian, the two sides exchanged views on regional and global issues andrelations between the two parties and countries, and discussed ways to foster multifaceted cooperation in thetime ahead.
Quan thanked the Singaporean side for havingcollaborated with Vietnam in training personnel of the CPV for years and highly appreciated Singaporeas Vietnam’s leading partner in multiple areas, including industry, education,tourism, science-technology and human resources development.
He proposedthe two sides continue to unlock potential in other fields, particularly whenthe two countries have joined the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The Singaporeanleaders spoke highly of Vietnam’s robust growth in recent years and agreed tobolster the Vietnam – Singapore bilateral relations and ties within ASEAN and to strengthen economic partnership andpeople-to-people exchanges.
They voicedsupport for Vietnam as the ASEAN Chair in 2020 and congratulated Vietnam for its election as a non-permanent memberof the United Nations Security Council for the 2020–2021 term.
They alsopledged to continue working with Vietnam in personnel training and step upcooperation in new areas.–VNA
